About TRB

The Government of Tamilnadu has constituted the Teachers’ Recruitment Board to conduct various Test for the selection of candidates under different sectors such as Secondary Grade Teachers, BT, PG, Special Teachers, Computer Instructors, Agricultural Instructors and AEEOs in the respective Departments of School Education and Elementary Education Department, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, Backward classes, Most Backward classes and Minorities Welfare Department, Social Defence Department, Chennai Corporation and Coimbatore Corporation. Junior Lecturers, Lecturers and Senior Lecturers in SCERT and in Higher Education Department for the post of Asst.Professors, Lectures in Engineering Colleges and Govt Arts and Science Colleges, Govt polytechnic and in Govt Law Colleges respectively. Following the guidelines of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009, the TRB took up the responsibility of conducting TNTET (Tamilnadu Teacher Eligibility Test) from 2012 onwards.

Presently, office of the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, Tamilnadu (TRB) is located in the premises of the Directorate of Public Information (DPI) and exercises power throughout the state of Tamilnadu.

TRB Exam Eligibility Criteria

I. Nationality / Citizenship:

1. Must be a Citizen of India.
2. Candidates from all over the country are eligible to apply for the TN TRB Polytechnic Lecturer post, however, they must fulfill the other mandatory requirements.

II. Age Limit:

1. Maximum : 57 years
2. Minimum : 22 years

III. Educational Qualification:

Lecturer in Engineering subjects : “ A Bachelor’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering / Technology / Architecture with not less than sixty Percent of marks or equivalent, Provided that if the candidate has a Master’s Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering / Technology / Architecture, the candidate should possess a first class or equivalent in the appropriate branch either at Bachelor’s or Master’s degree level

Lecturer in non-Engineering subjects: A first class Master’s degree in the appropriate branch of study.

IV. Prior Experience:

No prior experience is required. But an experience of above 2 years is beneficial as it is given weightage in the final stage of recruitment.

TRB Exam Selection Process

The selection of the candidates will be done in two stages:

  • 1. Computer-Based Test
  • 2. Awarding Weightage Marks during Certificate Verification

Computer-Based Test: First the candidates will be called for the Computer Based Test. The details regarding the exam dates, time and the exam center will be mentioned in the hall ticket. The board might conduct the exam in multiple shifts if the number of candidates appearing for the exam is more. After the CBT, the candidates who have qualified will be required to appear for the Certificate Verification.

Certificate Verification: Based on the marks scored in the CBT, the board will prepare the list of candidates for certificate verification in the ratio of 1:2. If the candidate fulfills the below criteria then he/she will be awarded some marks that are mentioned below.

After the certificate verification is over, the candidates will be shortlisted based on the marks obtained in the CBT and the marks obtained after the certificate verification.
